A very friendly and helpful staff, a great and varied selection of Spanish books, large print books, fiction, as well as philosophy, psychology, religion, African American Studies, and teen and reference sections. There is a self-checkout, a computer lab, and social events. The security are nice. If you go to the fourth floor, the view of the Hudson Waterfront is breathtaking. It is right next to Lionsgate Studios and a beautiful park with the Sawgrass River flowing through it. The train station to go to Manhattan or northward is right by the library. The Hudson River is a mere five minute walk.
The collection of books here aren't that notable, but this is still a fabulous place to spend time. It has beautiful views of the waterfront, plenty of seating, helpful staff, and even an art gallery on the top floor. The views are definitely the highlight -- one of the best places I've had the ability to work from outside my home in the last few years. Highly recommended.
It was way to get my library card today and I'm so glad I did it! All you need is an ID and proof of address. There are also a nice array of activities that the library seems to sponsor including summer stem programs, grab and go crafts and tutoring! There's also a literacy solutions program which provides reading and language comprehension for community members! There are computer labs to use for those with library cards and the art exhibit by Elvira Clayton on the fourth floor was awe inspiring and thought provoking (and open to all). I'm excited to continue visiting my local library! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable in helping me find the books that I need. They communicate throughout the floors too to make sure you're getting the books you need. There are four floors; in the fourth floor staircase you have a beautiful view of the running river below.
Great library, Bee-Line timetables are available here for those who need a specific non-moving place to find them.
If you look up the word disgrace in the dictionary you will find a picture of the “Yonkers Public Library” right next to it.
Out of thin air some type of so-called “Director” African-American older man. He approaches me while there mining my own business and supervising my 2 kids in the 2nd floor where they created some type of play-room for children; and informs me that this section is for kids under the age of 6. (By the way 45 min later after being there). Now I shared with director that I have 2 children 5 & 10 and asked him how he expects me to supervise both of them while being in different rooms? He was definitely caught off guard with my statement…
I moved on explaining to him to “kindly show me where this policies are displayed?”
He’s ignorant explanation was “is being made” smh 🤦🏾♂️ you can’t NOT make this up! I explained if there’s a “STOP” sign and I brake the “law” officers would have every right to enforce. But if a “STOP” sign is not displayed, no one can come to me and say “it’s being made” as I made my point he walked away.
This explains why some people as the same for the “mall cop” (the ignorant security that just follows orders) that they have, can’t be giving any type of authority overall. They fail to have common sense, lack reality of their surroundings, make policies out of thin air to accommodate their personal needs, and are just plain and simple ignorants with a job.
Very disappointed with this experience, last time I had a bad a experience due to somewhat of a different situation; and today I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt… yet they failed again. This was definitely the last time I visited this library.
A great library to visit and study. Friendly staff and clean restrooms.
Visiting this location was a great idea. It appears a clean, safe environment.
Parking is tricky.
I would return. the storytelling was fun. It was also playful for the children because after every book ended, the children sang and dance to a song or two. The staff was engaging and friendly.
I'm sure other activities will be fun because the space is there to accommodate families. There's lots of satisfaction. There's plenty of space available facilities like working restroom computer station quite room and of course a variety books and media to choose from.
been going to this library for a good while & have not had nothing to complain about. Unless you are being disruptive & disrespectful no one will bother you. very good place to study & it is a very quiet & peace full place !
